About us
Where we go
“ALPA Centrums” Ltd. has worked on the market of freight forwarding already for 12 years. It is paying railway tariffs in Russia, Baltic and CIS countries. “ALPA Centrums” is managing international railway transport organizer responsibilities, however in most cases “ALPA Centrums” is not acting as the cargo shipper and receiver. The direct contract with JSC “Russian Railways” Client Service Center was concluded in the autumn of 2000, which gave opportunity to receive a permit of freight transport without mediator on the territory of Russia and due to this contract we can offer our clients competitive freight rates. Less than 10 companies in Latvia provide railway freight forwarding on CIS Railways, among which “ALPA Centrums” takes approximately 75% from the total amount of services. In the turnover of “ALPA Centrums” about 60-70% are the tariff payments for freight transport of the so-called international trade import, export and transit railway transportations in Russia. The share of this service category’s carried out by “ALPA Centrums” reached a volume of 2,19 mil tones or 0,68% out of all international freight transport in the Federation of Russia in 2004. In the second half of 2003 some reforms started inside the Russian Railways, which was focused to the market liberalization and re-structuring of the organization – JSC “Russian Railways” was established at that time. “ALPA Centrums” Ltd. is continuously putting efforts on increasing of transport volumes with the Russian Railways, which are both territorially and economically important part of the world for international transit cargo transport from/to CIS countries. The number of clients of “ALPA Centrums” is quite significant – approximately 100 concluded long-term contracts for providing forwarder services with clients from EU - the Western Europe and the new member states of EU, as well as USA, Russia and other CIS countries. Comparatively rather small, but not less important is the investment of “ALPA Centrums” in arranging export transportation for Latvian cargo owners and the participation in multimodal transport schemes via Latvian ports – Riga, Ventspils and Liepaja. The management of the company regularly performs detailed work analyses and it has advanced following tasks for the next 3 years:
